Colorful River

Such a nice weather during spring in Tokyo. If you have the opportunity to travel to Japan, you really have to come in may! We had so many great sunny weekend. Perfect for some sightseeing...

The only problem is that it's not very easy to make a city trip with small children. They often get bored quickly...
So I (mostly) try to find some compromises. One of the best way to discover a new town and enjoy the kids as well is a river boat trip (if the city offer this opportunity of course!) In Tokyo you have enough rivers to give you this posibilty (love this city ;)
The most popular is a cruise down the Sumida River. So off to the Water Bus Station in Asakusa.
We started our trip with a wonderful view of the Skytree, the Sumida City Hall and the Asahi Super Dry Hall & Life Buildings...

Well, if you have ever had the chance to make a cruise on the Seine river you will be for sure a little bit disappointed. The view is not comparable with the charming banks of Paris. But this is the point: you are not in Paris! We saw some nice parks and a lot of skyscrapers, nothing extraordinary about this at first sight. I still enjoyed the trip because in my eyes the Japanese have a real talent for giving simple things a very special and beautiful aspect. In this case the idea of a colorful river. A colorful river??? Follow me, you will understand...

The great and incredible view of the Rainbow Bridge and Odaiba Island

It's so easy to give more brightness with a simply touch of color. Imagine this boat all in black. It wouldn't looks so majestic and it wouldn't probably give you an incredible desire to start a cruise on  Japanese rivers...

Yes it was a very nice month of May, full of sun, color and funny moments with the kids. "Apropos" kids, color and fun, on may take place in Japan the Kodomo no Hi festival. It's a day dedicate to the children and their happiness. By tradition carps are hung on every house where children live. So lovely...

Today we start with June and I'm looking forward to the summer. All these pictures of sun, water, fish inspired me for some new colorful decoration stuff. I tried to find some new dishes but unfortunatly I haven't found something like the cute plates and coffee cups I saw on a French Internet Shop. As June normally is a very rainy month in Japan, I gonna have a lot of time with my girls to craft. So why not start a little DIY action and make our own plates and decorate them with special porcelain pen. It will be for sure a lot of fun...
