Actually the best moment to start writing again on my blog...

I'm back from Japan for more than one year now and I decided to make some big changes. Studying again was one of my biggest wishes and I'm happy (and proud) to start 10 month ago :)
It's not always easy but it feels so good to dedicate time with something you really like to do!
Now that I have to read so much architecture and design book, as well as a lot of home magazines, I couldn't barely thing about something else than home design!

I'm also using all my free time to improve my sketches skills. So here is a little sample of my latest work. A project for an open space kitchen / living room...

And I couldn't resist! Here is also a small Christmas wish list inspiration. Actually mine ;)

Parlez-vous français ?!

After a big regenerating Europe summer break, I'm now back in Japan... Well I'm of course a little bit  sad to leave my friends and family again but I'm also happy to be back in this incredible and never boring city: Tokyo!

After a few days on the "road" in Tokyo and Yokohama, I realized (again) how much Japanese people love the" French Touch". You can find so many boulangeries, cafés, restaurants... But I was surprise to see how much they like to wear accessories and clothes with french printings, not understanding what's written on?! Not really a problem so long as the sentences are funny or sweet, but I found some shirts and bags with very strange french inscriptions or often with a lot of spelling errors. Not so cool but nor really dramatic. I'm not a master of spelling as well and I use so many different languages during the day (german, englisch, french, japanese...) that I'm sometimes not even be able to speak perfectly my native language, french. Damned!!!!  

But "tout de même" I decided that, for the future, I would better "never buy something with a text printed on if I can't translate it". Just to be sure that I don't wear a shirt with the Japanese sentence "I love my dog" written on... without having a dog! ;-)

Yes!!! It's spring time. 

After a very (for Yokohama) snowy and cold winter, spring is finally here.

And now that I finished to arrange my "Home sweet Home" I really want to enjoy this great season in Japan...

At the question: does it snow in Tokyo? I get the answer: not really. It could happen but the last heavy snowfall was 50 Years ago... Yes, of course?!

The Chinese New Year gave us a good opportunity to discover the Chinatown area in Yokohama.
Just in love with the very special asiatic atmosphere...

And the street color scheme was (like usual) a good source of inspiration...

Small pleasure of life...

I'm spending so much time outside since we've moved to Yokohama. I don't have a car, so I have to walk a lot during the day: to bring the kids to school, go to supermarket or if I decide to explore the incredible big city of Tokyo...

At first, I've thought it might be a big problem but after now a month, I really enjoy it. I love the time "on the road": I'm fascinated by the brightness of the city and I appreciate much more now the little breaks for lunchtime...  

On the walk, you have much more time to appreciate what's around you: the color scheme of the nature, the light, the details on the buildings, etc...

And the wintertime in Yokohama is just so incredible. I have so much energy because most of the time the sun is shining. Everything is just so colorful and I really like to wear now crazy colored accessories, what I normally just do during summer...

I definitely have the desire to change my usual habits, to try (and wear) new things and simply enjoy the small pleasure of life...

Summer feeling in winter? Why not!

Crazy Big City...

What do People in Tokyo love to do on Sunday ? Relaxing at home with family and friends... no!
They prefer to walk out on the streets and make shopping?!
One of their favorite place: Shibuya. And so it looks like, on a "very" sunny sunday in the middle of January...

I must confess: I live in a very quiet area of Yokohama so I enjoy as well at the weekend the "trouble" of this big city.

I love this crazy area in Tokyo. Shibuya is so full of life...

 But you can also find some small quiet streets with cute restaurants...

Shibuya is the perfect place to have an excellent Cappuccino at Segafredo, served by an "Italian" barman!

Find great shops with lovely clothes and shoes (of course) Mmmm... difficult. Wich one should I choose?!

In Germany, I usually wore plain clothes. In Tokyo, You can definitly be more "creative" and mix print and color.  

I love the style of Japanese woman. It's powerful but so feminine. Actually a little bit like in Paris...

Take it easy...

One of my "resolution" for 2014: "Simplify your life" or better "Take it easy"...

I knew that it wouldn't be easy to live in Japan. Because of the language (sure) and because of our both children. Now here they are in Tokyo and thank goodness, they appreciate to live in a big city...
They started last week at their new school and found already new friends. Oufff...

I feel "peu à peu" at Home in Yokohama: I already found my favorite supermarket, drugstore, Café and restaurant: the "World Kitchen". I know it don't really sound Japanese, but if a learn something during my first two week in Tokyo it's: to "make it simple"... If you are in a foreign country don't think it's necessary to try to live from the beginn as the people who are living there. Let you better a little bit more time to discover the diferrent places and the national customs...

Same think by cooking: because it's really difficult for me to read the labels on the products, I prefer to "take it easy" as well. That's why I prepared for our first meal in Japan: Pasta... But to be honesst, I spent one hour the first time at the supermarket and I just found these few products, so i really couldn't prepare anything else ;-)))

Now that I feel a little bit more "at Home" and that I fill up my fridge, I can appreciate the wonderful city of Tokyo. 

So just let us go out, enjoy the incredible sunny weather and the delicious (and always so cute) "Cappuccinos"...

Dear Santa Claus...

Ja… bald ist Weihnachten!

Aus lauter Umzugsstress hatte ich Sonntag den Adventskranz komplett vergessen und musste am Frühstückstisch noch schnell einen improvisieren… Dieses Jahr ist nun mal alles anders als sonst. Ich liebe die Weihnachtszeit und das Haus dementsprechend zu dekorieren. Aber da wir schon vor Heiligabend unsere Kisten nach Japan schicken werden, lohnt es sich nicht groß was zu schmücken…

Na ja, zumindest hatte ich ein wenig Zeit an meiner Weihnachtswunschliste zu „arbeiten“. Und dieses Jahr habe ich schon wieder so viele schöne Sachen im Kopf…

Energievoll durch den Herbst

Die Vorbereitungen für unseren Umzug nach Japan sind im Gange. Ich bin schon fleißig beim missten, gerade die ganzen Kindersachen (grausam was Sie alles so sammeln können…)

Am Wochenende war aber der Garten dran, und ich habe schweren Herzens unsere großen Kübel von der Terrasse geleert. Bei manchen waren noch sogar wunderschöne Blumen drin. Da ich sie einfach nicht entsorgen konnte, habe ich sie überhall im Haus untergebracht. Was ich sonst selten mache. Eigentlich doch schade… Auf jedem Fall, diesen unglaublichen Farbintensiven gelben Blumenstrauß im Wohnzimmer geht mir nicht mehr aus den Augen.

Normalerweise ist gelb bei Kleidung nicht so meins, und schon gar nicht im Herbst. Aber eigentlich warum nicht?! Es ist eine sehr schöne und energievolle Farbmischung. Perfekt für die trüben und kalten Herbsttage…

Achtung: Leopard Gefahr...

Ich bin ein leidenschaftlicher Zeitschriften-Leser. Schon als kleines Mädchen im „Dorf“ konnte ich mich stundenlang in die franzosischen Kataloge von „Les 3 Suisses“ oder „La Redoute“ vertiefen. Ob ich daher meine Liebe zu Kleidung bekommen habe? Bestimmt!

Es ist immer sehr schön sich die neuen Trends anzuschauen, und es gibt auch Lust sich etwas „Neues“ zu besorgen. Das Problem war nur, dass ich sehr oft dazu neigte, das was ich gesehen hatte einfach zu kopieren. Es sah dann vielleicht nicht schlecht aus, aber viel zu oft fühlte ich mich in meiner Kleidung nicht wohl. Irgendwie war es nicht „Ich“: weil doch mal zu sportlich, zu chic, zu rockig, zu etc… 

Erst als ich nach Paris gezogen war, wurde es mir klar: „no Total Look“.

Ines de la Fressange beschreibt es auch ganz gut in ihrem Buch „La Parisenne“: die Kunst, die die Frauen dort beherrschen ist einfach die: modische Teile sanft in ihre Kleidung zu mischen. Als ob sie der Mode nur von weitem folgen würden.

Gerade bei Trends wie dieses Jahr - mit vielen Mustern - muss man sehr vorsichtig sein. Ein Leopard-Look kann uns mit einem Schlag um 10 Jahre älter wirken lassen! Da hilft die teuere Anti-Falten Creme auch nicht mehr, wenn es einfach „too much“ ist oder zu Klischee wirkt…

Also um uns das „Anti-Zeug“ zu sparen und lieber dafür in schönen Schmuck investieren zu können (apropos ich habe da was ganz Schönes entdeckt) schauen wir mal wie wir ein gefährlicher Leopard(en-Muster) alltagstauglich machen könnten und dabei vielleicht noch sogar ein wenig jünger wirken können…

Ja, so fühle ich mich wohl!  Und ich kann, Dank meinem eher schlichten Outfit, zwei meiner Lieblingssachen tragen: Muster und Glitter.

Das was für Leoparden-Muster gilt, gilt nämlich auch für Schmuck. Man darf Diamanten Halskette auch im Alltag tragen, und nicht nur am Silvesterabend. Einfach weil: großer funkelnder Schmuck + basic Outfit = parfait…

Mein "Little Paris"

Wie Simone de Beauvoir es so schön sagte: „ On ne naît pas femme, on le devient“ bzw. man ist nicht als „Frau“ geboren, man „wird“ es.

Das gleich gilt anscheinend auch für Pariser. Ich kenne wenige Leute, die in Paris geboren sind, und trotzdem würde man denken, nur aufgrund ihrer Lebenseinstellung, dass sie dort geboren sind…

Ah „les Parisiennes“! Fast ein Mythos. Ich glaube, dass es mehr darum geht wie man sich als Frau fühlt. Wenn ich spontan den Namen einer berühmten Pariserin geben sollte, wäre es „Jane Birkin“. Aber sie kommt nun mal gar nicht aus Paris! Sie ist nicht einmal Französin!!! Und trotzdem strahlt sie dieses gewisse „je ne sais quoi“:  natürlich, chic, elegant, unkompliziert, lebensfröhlich, etc…

Am meistens liebe ich von ihr die Zeit aus den 60ern. Da hatte sie die perfekte Mischung aus Weiblichkeit mit schwarzen smokey eyes, und Lässigkeit mit casual outfits. Die würden sogar heutzutagen in Paris nicht „out“ wirken, sondern eher classic, basic, chic. Wie zum Beispiel eine schwarze Cabanjacke mit schwarzer slim Hose, kitten heels Boots und dezentem Schmuck… Perfekt!

Ob ich Paris vermisse? Ja, schon…

Aber wie ich es schon sagte, es geht ja mehr um eine Lebenseinstellung. Und ich glaube, dass ich nach fast 10 Jahren in Deutschland genügend Französin und Pariserin geblieben bin. Außerdem helfen mir Bücher wie „les Parisiens“ um mich an diese glückliche Zeit zu erinnern.
